A Real First Post...

Potential! A dangerous word. What we are starting to examine, experience, try, discuss has tons of potential. Like the students in your room, athletes on your field, actors on your stage, we have tons of potential. But what will we do with it? Will we devote the resources, energies, and time to make the potential turn into greatness?

It's hard to see the potential that is there when we are bogged (not blogged) down with so many other things. The cool thing to me is the potential the kids have to challenge us in what we are doing in our classrooms and to have them assist us in this process.

This is the real question and one that is really nagging me. We talk about how exciting it is where this group will take us, but we are the ones that will have to take each other there. Will we push each other? Will we find the means to really be constructivists?

I really do not think that all students do have the same potential. I do not know if it is from a biological perspective, but I do see a lot of them hindered by genetics. If they are not getting the help that they need from home, we do not have a chance.
